iMessage keeps signing out

When I try to log back in I keep getting a “error occurred during iMessage activation” I know it’s not my iPhone for sure because I’ve brought it from another company to Cricket. Only the phone number changed. Is anyone else experiencing this? Could it also be the person who previously had this cricket phone number? Because I am still getting a lot of texts and FaceTimes asking for them. Maybe they are trying to claim the number still? I don’t know. Any help is appreciated. I have already tried resetting my network settings, updated to the latest iOS update, turned phone off and on, turned on airplane mode temporarily, turned off cellular data, I’ve tried everything. Taking it to Apple seems useless as I know for sure it’s not my phone. I’ve never had this issue before with the previous company and phone number.

It could be something with your Apple ID that is causing a problem during iMessage activation. As long as your data with Cricket Wireless is working fine, it should not be an issue on their end. Have you tried reaching out to Apple Support to see if there is anything that could be causing this with your Apple ID?
