The process for unlocking your phone's SIM card will depend on a few different factors, such as your carrier and whether you've paid off your phone in full.

If your phone is currently under contract with a carrier, you may need to contact them to request a SIM unlock. Some carriers have specific requirements you'll need to meet before they unlock your phone, such as being a current customer in good standing or having paid off your phone in full. Check it at iPhone SIM not valid error. 
If you've already fulfilled any requirements and your carrier has approved the unlock request, they should be able to provide you with instructions for completing the unlock process.
