Text Messages Delayed/Never Received

We switched two phones from Verizon and my work phone from Straight Talk all over to Cricket. All three are different versions of the iPhone, the newest being an iPhone 11 and the oldest being an iPhone 6. We immediately noticed texts messages can be extremely delayed, some never sending or being received at all. This happens on a daily basis. All phones have iOS up to date and all phones were troubleshooted with everything under the sun found on the internet. We also noticed things that use WiFi are now slower (also thoroughly troubleshooted), and we don’t get Ring doorbell notifications until two minutes after someone leaves our front stoop. Is this SIM card related? Server related? And ultimately, is this something that can be fixed? If not we will need to switch immediately, as my work phone often requires a prompt response to text messages.

Hello @Mosch362! Welcome to our Cricket Community Forum and thank you for your post. We would like to look into this issue further for you. Please reach out to our support team on Facebook (m.me/cricketwireless) or Twitter (@cricketsupport) for further assistance.

Same!!! Text messages take quite a while to send or receive. And calls will cut out with silence about every 30 seconds to a minute. Making it difficult to hear anything. I notice that they keep saying to go to Facebook and Twitter but isn’t this a “help forum” So we can all get the answers?

Yes, not a solution at all. Switching back to Verizon today. When I inserted the Verizon SIM card and it activated, I got a bunch of text messages all at once that were sent to me hours ago.Definitely a Cricket issue.

We switched 2 phones from ATT.  My phone is an iphone X and my husbands phone is an iphone XR.  We were having problems getting texts pretty much right away.  I tried some fixes from internet searches and turned my phone off and on and that seemed to work to get the backlog of texts that hadn’t come through.  I have continued to have problems.  Today texts came through to me in the morning but not in the afternoon. I have stopped at a cricket store and called customer service a few times.  Their suggested “fixes” have included doing a software update, resetting the network, turning my phone off and on, and tonight the best one was “it is an Apple issue”.  He then said he could give me the Apple customer service number! That was after he had just suggested we do software updates and that should fix the problem but we had already done that.  I don’t know if maybe there is a cricket customer service person that has more experience with this?  Or if it’s hopeless?  If we can’t get it fixed in this billing cycle we’re switching back to ATT.  We were with them for over 10 years and didn’t have a single issue.

I just started having this issue, 2-3 weeks maybe.   Some test messages sent or received are days old.  Very sporadic as to when it happens.  It’s not just my phone, it’s 3 of the 4 on the plan. The one without issues doesn’t use text.
two phones are IPhone SE the other is an iPhone but a newer model.  OS on all three are up-to-date.
It’s a newer problem which points at Cricket not our phones.  If it was our phones it wouldn’t just start happening.

I have been dealing with this problem for months now.Text being delayed from minutes to hours in receiving them. I have called Cricket about this and AT&T about this.

Cricket told me it was the fault of AT&T and to call them.AT&T tells me it’s Cricket Fault. I have asked for a booster but was told they didn’t have them any more for customer. but was glad to tell me i can buy one that will work for there system from other stores. they push 4G lte but what good is it if it doesn’t work well for my area. some of the people here have health problems and if one of them can’t reach me with a problem they might be having while driving do to a delay that could be a problem. it seems they know of ths problem and don’t care to fix it. a simple booster would fix my problem but i see why i would have to spend over $200 to fix a cell phone problem i shouldn’t be having.

Hi I'm not sure why you would switch back to ATT when ATT owns cricket service the problem could be the apple phone needs to be updated i have a Samsung on cricket with no text problems.

Hi what does Verizon have to do with cricket wireless you cant use a cricket phone on a wireless net work cricket phones are for cricket you can get a phone made for att and it will work cause att owns cricket service.

I have the same issues and have had them now on and off for fricken years!  Customer service is pretty much worthless. They tell you it’s Apple and to call them.  It’s not Apple.  It’s clearly cricket.  I think I’ll need to switch soon. I can’t keep doing this delayed messages. I’m so sick of it.

I wish there was a solution but I don’t think there is.  Only solution is getting new service somewhere else

So Cricket Wireless doesn’t allow you to change the APN settings on an iPhone manually. However, you can reset the network settings, which seems to have fixed my nephew’s issue with sms messages arriving late.  To do this, go to General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.  That should hopefully do the trick.

We have been having this problem for months.  We have 3 different versions of iphones on 4 different plans.  We are all located in different states.  It happens when we are on wifi or cellular.  We have had cricket for over 10 years and have been very happy but this problem is so frustrating we are looking to switch.

Sounds like too many Cricket customers are dealing with the same issue with no way to resolve it.  I guess I’ll have to look into paying more money to switch to a bigger company.

We switched from AT&T to Cricket almost a month ago and one of the lines is not receiving iMessages about 50% of the time on cellular or wifi. We had zero issues with AT&T for years. I guess this is what I get for trying to save money. I will be switching back to AT&T since Cricket support suggested I just “turn off iMessages”. Totally crazy. We did all of the network resets and everything that is suggested online but still having the issue.

I’m not so sure that this is an AT&T problem as it is Cricket’s problem. We started having this issue immediately after switching to Cricket from AT&T. I know Cricket uses AT&T service but something has to be different for them to have this issue. Nobody I know with AT&T is having this issue. Although, it seems this issue doesn’t affect everyone because I know people with Cricket that isn’t having this issue either.

I to have had this problem and also with the last 3 phones I've owned I don't get notifications or icon notifications in the toolbar. I use Android phones. And I'm using a LG STYLO 6 as of January. And I have had Cricket for at least 4 or 5 years now. But with this phone I don't get missed calls alert or voice mail alerts and no notifications in the toolbar for those 2 and none if I have a text message to open. It's getting old not having all the features that I'm used to having and I'm tired of having to explain this issue to everyone who tries to get ahold of me. I think I'm changing carriers next month. Because if it hasn't been fixed by now, it's not getting fixed if u ask me.

I agree. Same thing with the iPhone we have. Once the iMessage fails and it sends as a standard text message, some times it’s hours or the next day when it’s received. Very frustrating. Support is either playing stupid or just has no idea what they are doing. I am switching to AT&T prepaid this weekend.

I keep having this issue as well, if I am not on wifi, I am missing random iMessages. Yet I will get in wifi and receive or get on my ipad later and see that I have some that my phone never received. Every app works fine its just texting, we have 4 on our account and its happening to all of us and super frustrating. I don’t know anyone else in my area with Cricket and everyone I have asked does not have the issue. I am thinking of switching

I switched back to AT&T and have not had any issues since.  I will stick with AT&T from now.  Its worth paying the extra money.

However I think there’s just a bug in showing that the message is delivered. The other day after about 5 minutes of my message not showing as delivered I checked my Mac and it showed the message as delivered. Currently running 14.5 beta 3.

Part of the reason I ditched cricket. My friend has it too and having the same issue on android phones no less. Its its not phone issue its carrier issue. It affect android and iPhone users.

I have a samsung s20 FE…. Cricket version… And wife has a samsung S9 Plus… Both phones are on cricket accounts and we can’t send texts.. Some days it works ok… And days like today none get sent out or received..  Cricket should call AT&T and tell them to get the service working better or something… This is unacceptable.. What's the point in paying for a service that works 50% of the time.. Also we have our phones setup for a scheduled reboot every single morning.
