Voicemail isn't working

I have an iPhone 8+, and I haven’t been receiving voicemails since I got it so I decided to check today and all my voicemail says is “call voicemail”. When I call it I’m met with an AI saying my voicemail has not been set up yet, all the settings for my voicemail are turned on, and I’ve tried fixing it with help from the internet.
