Voicemail not working

I have not had a voicemail in close to a year I call for help they reset my voicemail I then set it up again and nothing is working. They told me it was because I bought my phone over from Verizon and I looked online and it said my phone was a BYOD which is not the case. I bought my iPhone from cricket after the iPhone that I originally bought from Verizon stopped working. I’m frustrated that nobody seems to know why my voicemail just all of a sudden stopped working and when people call it tells them “welcome to Verizon wireless the party your trying to reach can not be completed” I’m just confused at this point because this phone has never been on Verizon!
