What’s the News?

Starting August 20, Cricket Wireless will offer the ad-supported tier of HBO Max for free to new and existing customers on our $60/mo. unlimited plan,1 which comes with 15GB of mobile hotspot and access to our 5G network on eligible devices. Whether at home or on the go, Cricket customers on this plan can activate their subscription and immediately dive into HBO Max’s portfolio of premium, award-winning and iconic programming for no additional charge, a value of $9.99 per month.

Why Does It Matter?

HBO Max is WarnerMedia’s streaming platform that offers more than 13,000 hours of best-in-class entertainment, featuring the greatest array of storytelling for all audiences with the iconic brands of HBO, Warner Bros, DC, Cartoon Network, Turner Classic Movies and more. By adding the recently launched ad-supported tier of HBO Max to our Cricket plan, more consumers can experience the entertainment only HBO Max can provide.

What’s the Deal?

It’s simple. New and existing Cricket customers on our $60/mo. unlimited plan, will now have access to their favorite shows and an extensive collection of new and original programming directly to their device for no additional charge. In addition to viewing shows from their phones, customers can access this epic library of all the best TV series and movies—all in HD—by downloading the HBO Max app on a supported device. Some of that content includes:

  • New HBO and HBO Max Originals series like Friends: The Reunion, the recently rebooted Gossip Girl, Hacks, and The White Lotus
  • Fan-favorite TV shows like Game of Thrones, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and The Big Bang Theory
  • Cartoons for grownups (Rick and Morty) and kids (classic and new Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera shows)
  • The iconic library of classic and cult films from Warner Bros., including The Wizard of Oz, Casablanca, The Lord of the Rings and The Matrix trilogies, and more
  • Original series from CNN, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, truTV, TBS, TNT and more, as well as third-party licensed content.

Cricket’s $60 unlimited plan includes 15GB of mobile hotspot, 100 GB of cloud storage, unlimited calls to and from Mexico and Canada and access to our 5G network for customers with a 5G-enabled device. In addition, customers who sign up for a new line of service on the $60 UNL plan receive a one-year membership to Sam’s Club and access to the Acorns saving and investing app.

How Does It Work?

Existing HBO Max customers who are on Cricket’s $60 unlimited plan can download the app and use their Cricket Wireless credentials to start this benefit. New and other existing customers can get or upgrade to the $60/mo. plan and get access to the ad-supported tier of HBO Max on us. For example, existing customers on the $55/mo. UNL plan who want to access can upgrade their wireless plan for just $5 more a month.

It will be nice when this becomes available but as of now there is >no< cricket wireless option in the list of providers after you click “don’t allow” on the tv provider prompt

I’ve deleted the hbomax app 8x and reinstalled it

there is no cricket wireless option on the provider list I’ve been looking for since 8 am today

edit:  list updated just now to include cricket but “can’t verify sub” is the current buggy bug!

It was resolved for me a few hours after I posted this

I signed in through the cricket website and all went well

We too get this error.  We are on the family planning, 4 phones for like $125 a month.

I just signed up and was looking forward to use this, but I’m receiving the exact same error - "Can’t Verify Your Subscription - It looks like your Cricket Wireless plan may not qualify for HBO Max."

Someone help, please? For $60 I kind of expected things to work.

What I did was signed into my cricket account from the website or the cricket app.  Then click on the activate word and follow those steps

if it keeps saying it can’t verify your sub, go to your browser history and delete any entry showing you visited the website

Then sign back in and try it using that new website instance to activate it

I know that works bc it’s how I got it to verify mine

Did that already. It still fails. Maybe it just takes a day or so for the info to propagate into their servers?

tried to activate HBO Max via Amazon firestick and the HBO app and received the same error message when the app tries to authenticate the plan. There is no clearing of any cache that makes the issue go away for me.

Anyone find a way to fix this? I still get the same message saying “Can’t Verify Your Subscription

I’ve been in touch with chat support on FB and through the company site, they haven’t been able to fix it yet but they did elevate the ticket to the IT department. Seeing this problem come up with multiple people is comforting though, as it means it isn’t an isolated issue and will receive more attention.

I’ll let you all know what happens.

This is pretty awesome, I’m excited to see Last of Us and House of the Dragon shows on HBO Max when they come out. I do wish it was the ad free one, but at least HBO content has no ads.

Update: Well, it’s now been over 2 months and I still cannot use HBOMAX. I’ve called dozens of times. I’ve went through every troubleshooting process there is 5 thousand times. I’ve even been on the phone with HBO…. I think it’s safe to say my issue is not much of a priority to cricket…

Cricket Wireless is committed to supporting the growth of mobile Internet and providing the best customer experience. As a result, Cricket plans to end service on 3G (UMTS) wireless networks by February 2022. This will allow additional space on Cricket's mobile Internet network.

Hello there I too am having issues with this offer. I have two $60 unlimited plans for $90 and I’m receiving an error when attempting to login, following the exact steps provided. The message I receive says ‘it looks like your Cricket Wireless plan may not qualify for HBO Max. I contacted Cricket Wireless telephone support and the agent said I have nothing more to offer other than what the website says. I contact support via Facebook messenger yesterday, which was a much more pleasant experience, and I provided details and screenshots of the problem. They told me there was an issue and they are working with the team to get this resolved. I’m wondering what that means.  For those of you that have access to the new offering with HBO Max, enjoy. It may be a while for me and I may have to play catch-up.

Success!

Either the IT wizards did something behind the scenes or it just decided to start working. Either way, I tried logging in a few minutes ago and the problem was gone.

Today is the 24th. I’ve spent the last 3 weeks trying to access the HBOmax.  I pay for 60 a month and all I get is can’t verify subscription. And yes I’ve been over all trouble shooting dozens of times.
