Number Ported by hackers

My number was ported, my account was hacked; my pin code was changed, my security question was changed.   I spent a lot of time on Cricket chat trying to resolve it and it was a waste of time. I was at a Cricket retail store for several hours today with an earnest employee who was trying to help resolve the problem.   Cricket is almost complicit in perpetuating this. The employee of the store confirmed my identity and tried to engage phone help in an effort to resolve this but it was fruitless.

There has to be a reasonable way for Cricket to resolve this matter.  I've had my number for over twenty years, the consequences of  its absence will now begin to accumulate. The employee of the store hung up on three different reps from Cricket as they all sounded like robots and were not helpful. Myriad difficulties are possible with digital hacking, but Cricket should be a partner not an adversary in legitimate attempts to resolve them.

We would like to look into this further for you. Please reach out to our support team on Facebook (m.me/cricketwireless) or twitter (@cricketsupport) with the details of your issue.

No Facebook or Twitter, so here instead.

*I was corrected by a company employee that my number was not 'ported', as it remained within the Cricket network, but the company transferred it to another device.

Three days of Cricket hell and more of the same. At this point having spoken and 'chatted' and interacted with countless Cricket employees, I will unequivocally state that disconnecting callers in the midst of conversation is a thing at Cricket.

It is difficult to understand why there is no straightforward process for reducing harm to a customer in this particular circumstance. Least of which a temporary cessation of service while matters are sorted. The facts were clear to the reps in the Cricket retail stores. But listening to Cricket 800 number supervisors each repeat the same talking points for three days did nothing to limit financial damage to me as my phone was used for verification opening numerous credit card accounts in my name.

I managed to have my number restored thanks to the technical acumen of a store employee who had some magic juju up her sleeve which did not involve the unhelpful company suggestions. I am grateful to her for doggedness in being a bulwark on my behalf.

At this point a wariness and anxiety of this recurring. I think Cricket needs to check itself.

@do3908 We are glad that the number was salvaged and the representative was able to work her juju to get the number. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to always message us on Facebook or Twitter and we will be happy to resolve any issues at hand.

How thorough.

Nice way for cricket to pass the buck again...
