Unauthorized port Issue

On Monday, my phone wasn't working and I found out my phone number was fraudulently ported out without my consent. The person who stole my number used it to start hacking into my other accounts. I have had to freeze all my banking and credit for fear of them getting into them.

I called Cricket right after it happened and received a case no.  (C-6VUZCC). They were unable to give me any information other than we have forwarded it to our department that deals with these issues and it will be 3-5 days.

I filed a a complaint with the FCC and cricket did send me an email to say we'll check your status - but I've heard nothing back after asking for the last 2 days for an update.

This happened on Monday and it’s now Friday and no one from Cricket who is actually doing anything to resolve this issue has responded to me. I also tried reaching out to them on Facebook, but no one appears to be doing anything other than “we'll look into it and get back to you.”
NO ONE HAS GOTTEN BACK TO ME.

It’s already day 5 and it doesn’t look like Cricket has actually done anything at all. I wish that someone who is doing something to resolve this would reach out to me and I didn’t have to file a complaint with a federal regulatory agency to get basic customer service. I am appalled at the lack of urgency Cricket has shown - and a complete lack of communication around the issue. This is serious fraud and they don't seem to care about their customers.

The exact same thing happened to me twice. The first time was 6 months ago & the 2nd was Sunday. I have had no luck dealing with anyone at Cricket because no one wants to take the time to help.  I ended up switching providers yesterday. Good luck.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience! How long did they take the first time to return your number?

Hi @pdx_girl, we’re very sorry to hear this happened, and we want to assure you that we’re here to help. Please send our team a PM to @CricketSupport and include the name on your account, your wireless number, case number, and and alternate contact number. We’d be happy to look into the status of your number recovery case.

It’s been resolved - I got my number back after about 8 days. I switched companies immediately. This did so much damage and I don’t have any faith that my account would be secure with cricket.

It has been 12 days for resolution on my case!! My number was ported 8/14/23... I have been a long time customer.

No help, 3 cases created.

Your information was helpful!

I also found where my number is. Cricket claims it takes longer to prove my identity to get back the number.....

I'm so sorry... I know how stressful this is. They assured me that they take my security seriously and it won't ever happen again however they couldn't tell me how it happened so it's just empty promises as far as I'm concerned. I switched to mint mobile who has two factor authentication as part of their security protocol.
I wish you the best of luck!

So this is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen, having a telecommunication company allow your number to be ported without your concent and even when you proactively notify them that the number is about to be ported, they still did nothing to it.

Four day ago, at around 8:30pm, I chatted one of their customer service about a porting message that we got. He confirmed to me that my wife requested her number to be ported and I confirmed to him (Denis) that nothing of such, he asked me to change the login password and also change the pin which I did, but unfortunatetly for us, that didn’t stop my wife’s number from getting ported. The following morning (3days ago), her number was ported and I called them to rant and complain about how Denis could have prevented it but did nothing, but all what the rants could bring out was more dissappointment. They opened a case and promised to call me back in which they did. On the account we have 4 lines, one was ported and a case was opened. Just yesterday, two other numbers were ported leaving only one behind. I called again and this time arround the lady said she would but restriction on the account so the last number, our last line of defense don’t get ported. But how in the world would they allow two others to be ported after a case was filed is what still baffles me. As I am typing, my stock trading accounts has been changed without my consent. This is how serious it is, yet cricket is doing nothing other tha saying sorry we know you pain bla bla bla. Without my phone number I can’t authenticate to work and school accounts and chatting with one of them this morning, the guy said I have to wait for 15days to get our phones back.
