UNAUTHORIZED PORT SCAM

UNAUTHORIZED PORT, 3 out of 4 of my phone lines. This was done on 08/21/23 with no resolution. I have called customer service twice a day for the past 19 days now with no resolution. Customer service representatives are clearly outsourced and are being used as a gatekeep from their "back office" team. Back office team has not reached out or provided ANY updates on the situation. I have also just received no ounce of hope or resolution/reassurance from their support team here on Facebook. FCC and FTC submissions have been made. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with any company. I cannot believe this has been happening on such a large scale. Does anyone have any advice if this has happened to you? I am at a complete loss, I desperately want to keep the same phone numbers, we have had them for over a decade.

Wow, I just signed in and registered with this forum -- in order to make precisely the same complaint. Cricket “ported out” my phone number to a scammer on Aug. 18, and I have been without phone service ever since. I want my service restored and my phone number back. I have called the customer service line several times -- every time, it is “our back office team is investigating, and this will take three to five more business days.” Obviously they are reading from a script. It has been 21 days for me at this point.

Hi Kaboo4sure,

Your experience sounds a bit like mine. In my case, my number was ported away without my knowledge, and Cricket did nothing to get it back, despite numerous promises. “We’ve opened a ticket -- our back office team is working on it -- we need 3 to 5 more days.” Etc.

I finally gave up after 24 days, went to a store operated by a competing company, and told them to call Cricket and see if they could get my number ported over. So there we were in a T-Mobile store, with the Cricket Customer Service line on speakerphone. After 25 minutes or so, someone picked up. The representative used the same basic script. They couldn’t switch the number over because they needed to obtain it from the company that snatched it. They’d opened a ticket. Their back office people were working on it. They needed five to ten more days.

This was after 24 days of no service. Of course they were shining me on. I doubt Cricket even bothered to file a request to port back my phone. I think they “opened a ticket” and did absolutely nothing after that. Finally there comes a time when you have to give up. I signed up with T-Mobile on the spot, told them to give me a new number -- and essentially gave up all hope of ever retrieving my old number.

The vast number of complaints we see on this site demonstrate that Cricket is unwilling or unable to take action to restore customer accounts when they are interrupted by fraudulent activity. Ignoring people is an easy solution to customer complaints. We yell and moan for a while, and then we go away.

But here is the thing. I prepaid $55 for a month of telephone service, and I only got 4 days of service before this happened. Cricket might be able to ignore complaints about customer service, but it can’t ignore this -- if it is pocketing customer money rather than refunding it, this is a serious matter for state attorneys general to pursue. I wrote a formal letter to their customer service department last night demanding my money back, and they better not ignore this one. Complaints to AGs offices may be the only way to get Cricket to pay attention. -- Erik Smith/ Olympia, WA

I am so sorry to hear this is happening to you as well! I have been told that they “would be able to retrieve the numbers” but I am hesitant to trust that statement. I will definitely keep you updated if anything happens. Please do the same, best of luck!

So this is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen, having a telecommunication company allow your number to be ported without your concent and even when you proactively notify them that the number is about to be ported, they still did nothing to it.

Four day ago, at around 8:30pm, I chatted one of their customer service about a porting message that we got. He confirmed to me that my wife requested her number to be ported and I confirmed to him (Denis) that nothing of such, he asked me to change the login password and also change the pin which I did, but unfortunatetly for us, that didn’t stop my wife’s number from getting ported. The following morning (3days ago), her number was ported and I called them to rant and complain about how Denis could have prevented it but did nothing, but all what the rants could bring out was more dissappointment. They opened a case and promised to call me back in which they did. On the account we have 4 lines, one was ported and a case was opened. Just yesterday, two other numbers were ported leaving only one behind. I called again and this time arround the lady said she would but restriction on the account so the last number, our last line of defense don’t get ported. But how in the world would they allow two others to be ported after a case was filed is what still baffles me. As I am typing, my stock trading accounts has been changed without my consent. This is how serious it is, yet cricket is doing nothing other tha saying sorry we know you pain bla bla bla. Without my phone number I can’t authenticate to work and school accounts and chatting with one of them this morning, the guy said I have to wait for 15days to get our phones back.
