Help unlocking a Cricket phone

Hello everyone! I am new to this comunity and I hope someone here can be kind enough to help me or guide me in the right direction as how to go about unlocking a Cricket phone that was gifted to me, but since I currently live in Guatemala City I cant use it here because it is carrier locked. I tried to use the Cricket App directly from the phone but it does not open, Since I am trying to access it from outside the US. I have full access to the phone and can provide what ever information is needed. can someone please help me?

Thanks for posting. You don’t need to sign in the myCricket app to request unlock of device, or need to be in the U.S. I would suggest making sure that your device is connected to Wi-Fi, and both the app and device have the latest software update installed. Once that’s confirmed, you can follow the steps below:

1.    Open your myCricket app.
2.    Sign out of the app if you’re signed in.
3.    Tap Unlock Device on the app’s sign-in screen.
4.    Tap Unlock at the bottom of the screen.
5.    Once your phone is successfully unlocked, restart it to complete the process.
