For the past couple of months, I have been receiving text messages from various email addresses, sending links to porn sites. I can't figure out how to block these. I'd like to just block all messages from emails, since they keep changing the email address, and no one I know texts from email. Any solutions?

Thanks!

Hello @akan001! Welcome to our Cricket Community Forum and thank you for your post. We recommend downloading the app Hiya which blocks unwanted calls and messages. However, if this does not work, Cricket is able to change your telephone number for a $15 fee.

So, are you saying that Cricket can't do what it's parent company AT&T can do? They have the ability to turn off messages from emails....

That's a Awful Solution how does the consumer not know if the Spam texts from Email are coming from Cricket connections - $15 to change the Phone Number is not a solution it is not even a Bandaide on the Problem after all our legitimate contacts have the number - FIX THIS or I see a Class Action coming your way

Charging People to Change a Number is not a solution it is a Huge Problem - How do we know it isn't a Cricket Partner sending the Texts? You would get $15 each time you betrayed your customers and all our Legitimate Contacts have the Existing Number  - YOU NEED TO FIX THIS or I see a Class Action lawsuit coming your way - You cannot charge people for something they didn't BREAK

THAT IS NOT A SOLUTION - Charging people for your Faulty Software is Unbelievably Negligent

So I'm guessing this didn't get resolved? I have the same problem and paying $15 to change my number? I think I'll just shift to another service provider instead.

So, according to this response on another forum  and this response to a different question on this forum,  if you can block your own phone number it should stop you from getting text from email addresses. Goto your messaging app, send a text to your phone number and then block it. Im not positive this will work, but it's better than paying 15 bucks and its free to try.

Blocking your own number doesnt work for me. But this seems like it's becoming a recurring issue in the cricket service. Something isnt right in cricket and whatever it is needs fixed. Now. I feel like using my phone is unsafe and unprotected. Why cant we block spam like AT&T? It's coming in as random hotmail sent emails. If your having the same issue, please, stand up now

THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION!

I receive these at least once a week, from a throwaway random email address, usually as group text to many phone numbers almost identical to mine. The text or link usually has Chinese characters (which is a guess, since I do not speak Chinese). Obviously I delete and do not reply, but the real solution needs to be that Cricket customers MUST have the ability to turn off receiving text messages from email addresses!

Please, fix this. It is annoying, and potentially harmful to people, especially children. I do not know what the links go to, obviously, but you need to fix this.

I have literally been getting these same types of emails almost every day for the past 5 or so days...they are coming from hotmail addresses and include links to “blogspot.com” websites...they are so annoying and I have no idea how to stop them! I’m also quite concerned with how these people got a hold of my phone number in the first place...please Cricket make it stop 😞

Also, Hyna doesn't block the texts cause they come from separate random emails.

This is turned into a major problem with the last two weeks for me. I get five of these today! I also saw how AT&T has a way to solve it. Which means that Cricket does too. Cricket, give us the solution!

I downloaded the suggested app and nothing. It's still happening normally late at night. Instead of changing my number and paying $15 only to have it happen again I suggest we all change our service! This is very annoying and seems to target cricket customers since there is no fix for it!
I downloaded the app and it did not work. Instead of all of us paying $15 only to have it happen again since Cricket has no wAy to stop it I suggest we all change our service to Verizon or AT&T
This is not acceptable. I tried the app and it does not work! I am not paying $15 to change my number. Since this is a Cricket problem it will likely happen again since they do not have a fix for it
I recommend instead of all of us changing our numbers we all change our service to Verizon or AT&T
I second that. A class action lawsuit should be filed. Especially given Cricket's so-called "solution" to the problem is to change your phone number. Why should we be inconvenienced any further??

HELLO CRICKET...FIX THIS ISSUE... we know it can be done because your parent AT&T has done it.

What's taking so long. This issue was reported in February of this year. It's now almost November. Do you care so little about your customers? This is shameful. I think we should contact the FCC about your failure to address this issue. They're really interested in stopping robo contacts.

I'm with you on this I have a business and can not change my number not can I block unknown messages I called cricket and those where my options. I'm so pissed off and ready to tell cricket to kiss my but if they can't stop this
New customer here and Im getting them too
They are annoying and distracting and I cannot block them . Indeed cricket wants to charge 15 bucks to change the number. That is not acceptable and I agree a class action lawsuit is most likely what will get their attention to fix the issue.

Looks like this problem has been going on for well over a year now and its still not fixed???!!!

This issue has just recently started for me. So now what?? Nothing I guess. I guess we just sit here and take it like we take everything else. Im so exhausted. Im tired of my phone nor being MY phone. Being tricked by apps to agreeing to give out my info without my consent. Forced to wait thru the lamest, ripoff, fake, fauty product, commercials so I can proceed in what ever it is that Im trying ti get done. Hell, I moved from California because I was wasting half my life on the freeway and now Im spending twice that just messing with my phone!!!  Im litterally on the edge!....If I have to change one of my 8000 passwords and user names again,  I swear somethings getting shot.

This whole planet has gone to shit. Im ready to dump this cell phone BS altogether. I dont control the damn thing anyway. I dont even answer it when it rings. WTF ARE WE DOING???

ya, lawsuit..count me in.

Dont delete the messages, just block the contact. keeo the messages to enter as evidence in a lawsuit. Heres the link for the CANSpam Act : https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/can-spam-act-compliance-guide-business. Since these are using using the email to text gateway on Cricket's (AT&T) systems, this law applies. Each violation is $43k, so the more messages you keep as proof Cricket did nothing is another $43k fine theyll have to pay. Report them to FTC and FCC

I have the same thing happening to me. Got 2 texts from an gmail address and clicked on one and it was a porn site with a dancing girl showing her boobs. When I tried to send it the spam # it wanted the senders phone # It doesn't have a phone  # if sent thru gmail address…. Not many have my cell # and how did they get it anyhow and with no support from Cricket?

Been getting 2-3 spam texts a day for about a month. Got 3 today from gmail and others I have no idea who they are. Cricket needs to make this stop. Been with them for 5 years, but not much longer.

Changing your number would do nothing, these Spammers do just that... Spam every number at once... I along with 20 of my nearest number neighbors are simultaneously receiving these spam texts because they send it to every number in a brute force email attack that no on stops. You would figure that if Gmail can have spam filters the Cell Phone companies could too if they insist on hosting texts as email links.
