For the past couple of months, I have been receiving text messages from various email addresses, sending links to porn sites. I can't figure out how to block these. I'd like to just block all messages from emails, since they keep changing the email address, and no one I know texts from email. Any solutions?

Thanks!

Hi There! Cricket is serious about helping protect customers against telecommunications fraud. We suggest our customers forward the text/sms to short code 7726 or access https://cricket.spamresponse.com/ to fill out a brief report, and our spam response provider will take appropriate action.

I purchased a new iPhone and activated it with Cricket using a new phone number exactly a month ago. In those 30 days I have received 15 spam calls and 38 spam messages. 38!! The fact that they come in almost exclusively at 2-3 in the morning is just a cherry on top of the fact that there’s virtually no solution or way to prevent them.

It’s really interesting to me that I kept the same phone number for 8 years and never had an issue with spam messages and yet the first day I switch to cricket it’s just nonstop data-harvesting links from bot accounts. Why is it that, Cricket? Why is my number ending up on a list for spam on a daily basis when it didn’t even exist a month ago? I didn’t give it out anywhere and I only text like 3 people, so why is it being bombarded?

Evidently I’m going to have to switch carriers again and wait for the class action settlement. The brazen negligence in regards to this problem is just stunning.

I've never been able to get this resolved either and that Hiya app they trick you into downloading doesn't stop emails either

I’m still experiencing this issue, I’m thinking it is just time to switch providers and hope for that sweet class action lawsuit. I called support and they literally told me that they can’t block emails from sending text messages, not to mention the group messages (where I’m not going to spend the time blocking every single number). They also had the audacity to tell me that I signed up on an illegal website and that’s why it’s happening.

The last 2 months I have been getting an outrageous amount of spam text from email address’s. YOU have given me no logical way of blocking them.

Are you planning on doing anything about this? I have been using y’all for well over 10 years and this is how you are going to do me? Telling me to download an app. that many say doesn’t work anyways, or by charging me $15 to change my number? Wow, no loyalty.

IN THE MEAN TIME BLOCK THIS EMAIL CRICKET!!! SHEUBKGUM@GMAIL.COM
Then come up with a in phone app to block email address’s from text messages.

Cricket! Even if you download HIYA there's NO WAY to block emails!  They only let you add numbers.... so this is NOT A SOLUTION!

Tap the message of the sender you want to block. Hit the three vertical dots in the upper right corner. Select Block contact. Hit Delete conversation in the pop-up message and confirm by selecting Block.

I totally agree this is a horrible solution. I had gone into the store first and the guy in there was totally clueless on anything related to being able to help us.  We asked him to call customer service and he did everything to avoid calling. We finally got frustrated with him and called the support line outselvesand they wanted me to either change my number or download an app that the only way to use it is to text through this app. Yeah it worked but it changed so much of our phone and the way it normally looked so we deleted it.  Would be nice to have the option to add to a block list within our phone. We are actually looking at going back to ATT where they have the functionality to block these in the phone. Terrible customer service.

I don't think the account saying to download the app is actually from cricket. He just has cricket in his username. Their trying to get people to download the app. So a scammer trying to scam on a messages about scams.

Dont delete the messages, just block the contact. keeo the messages to enter as evidence in a lawsuit. Heres the link for the CANSpam Act : https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/can-spam-act-compliance-guide-business. Since these are using using the email to text gateway on Cricket's (AT&T) systems, this law applies. Each violation is $43k, so the more messages you keep as proof Cricket did nothing is another $43k fine theyll have to pay. Report them to FTC and FCC

How do we go about reporting this? I can screenshot all the messages but I cannot keep them. I get at least 10 a day and numerous people being pissed off in the messages. It is only 1:41 pm and so far today I have had 6 separate spam text with over 60 replies to it.

I figured it out!!!!

It took me a while of experimenting with my phone's settings but I figured it out!!!! Go to your messages settings and go to advanced settings and turn off receive MMS!!!! Once it's turned off the group messages will now be split up into individual messages which then if you hold down on the message it'll now give you the option to block them!!!! BUT now that your MMS is turned off when a contact or someone sends you a link or a picture you will have to go to the message and click on download in order to receive the message

Changing your number would do nothing, these Spammers do just that... Spam every number at once... I along with 20 of my nearest number neighbors are simultaneously receiving these spam texts because they send it to every number in a brute force email attack that no on stops. You would figure that if Gmail can have spam filters the Cell Phone companies could too if they insist on hosting texts as email links.

I have the same thing happening to me. Got 2 texts from an gmail address and clicked on one and it was a porn site with a dancing girl showing her boobs. When I tried to send it the spam # it wanted the senders phone # It doesn't have a phone  # if sent thru gmail address…. Not many have my cell # and how did they get it anyhow and with no support from Cricket?

Been getting 2-3 spam texts a day for about a month. Got 3 today from gmail and others I have no idea who they are. Cricket needs to make this stop. Been with them for 5 years, but not much longer.

Looks like this problem has been going on for well over a year now and its still not fixed???!!!

This issue has just recently started for me. So now what?? Nothing I guess. I guess we just sit here and take it like we take everything else. Im so exhausted. Im tired of my phone nor being MY phone. Being tricked by apps to agreeing to give out my info without my consent. Forced to wait thru the lamest, ripoff, fake, fauty product, commercials so I can proceed in what ever it is that Im trying ti get done. Hell, I moved from California because I was wasting half my life on the freeway and now Im spending twice that just messing with my phone!!!  Im litterally on the edge!....If I have to change one of my 8000 passwords and user names again,  I swear somethings getting shot.

This whole planet has gone to shit. Im ready to dump this cell phone BS altogether. I dont control the damn thing anyway. I dont even answer it when it rings. WTF ARE WE DOING???

ya, lawsuit..count me in.

New customer here and Im getting them too
They are annoying and distracting and I cannot block them . Indeed cricket wants to charge 15 bucks to change the number. That is not acceptable and I agree a class action lawsuit is most likely what will get their attention to fix the issue.
I'm with you on this I have a business and can not change my number not can I block unknown messages I called cricket and those where my options. I'm so pissed off and ready to tell cricket to kiss my but if they can't stop this

HELLO CRICKET...FIX THIS ISSUE... we know it can be done because your parent AT&T has done it.

What's taking so long. This issue was reported in February of this year. It's now almost November. Do you care so little about your customers? This is shameful. I think we should contact the FCC about your failure to address this issue. They're really interested in stopping robo contacts.

I second that. A class action lawsuit should be filed. Especially given Cricket's so-called "solution" to the problem is to change your phone number. Why should we be inconvenienced any further??
This is not acceptable. I tried the app and it does not work! I am not paying $15 to change my number. Since this is a Cricket problem it will likely happen again since they do not have a fix for it
I recommend instead of all of us changing our numbers we all change our service to Verizon or AT&T
I downloaded the app and it did not work. Instead of all of us paying $15 only to have it happen again since Cricket has no wAy to stop it I suggest we all change our service to Verizon or AT&T
I downloaded the suggested app and nothing. It's still happening normally late at night. Instead of changing my number and paying $15 only to have it happen again I suggest we all change our service! This is very annoying and seems to target cricket customers since there is no fix for it!

This is turned into a major problem with the last two weeks for me. I get five of these today! I also saw how AT&T has a way to solve it. Which means that Cricket does too. Cricket, give us the solution!
