LTE Switch to H (HSPA)

I have a Moto unlocked 4GLTE phone, the signal shows it is on LTE network when I’m using data.  However, as soon as I make a phone call, it switches to “H” (HSPA).  Why is that?  In fact, my other factory unlocked (Samsung) phone does the same…

From my understanding, this happens when your device is not VoLTE compatible or not active, so basically when you are making a call it drops LTE connection as it uses 3G for voice.
