no SIM card

I have had my Moto G7 Supra for 2 years. On 30 Oct 2021 my phone started having intermittent service. Mobile Data has "No SIM Card." I have turned the phone off and on. I have checked the SIM card position. I have wiped the SIM to remove any dust. I  stopped at the local retail store. The employee told me it is probably a setting or new app. I have not changed any settings or downloaded any apps in the 3 weeks. It costs $10 to buy a new SIM card. The employee said that probably won't help. After reading comments, I have no idea what else to do. I cannot make or receive calls or texts.

I had a similar issue once with an iPhone 8, and it ended up being an issue with the SIM reader. I eventually got it replaced with Apple. 

I would get the SIM card replaced first, to rule out that it’s not a SIM issue, and then check if device still has manufacturer warranty active incase it is not the SIM. Good luck!
