The device is compatible with Cricket.  Just make sure the device is unlocked before bringing it over.  Please also know some features may not be compatible such as hotspot or wifi calling on the unlocked device.

Unlocked in buy it from like Amazon or unlocked as in buy it from the official site

I just purchased an unlocked OnePlus 8, and I can confirm that it DOES NOT work with Cricket. I inserted my SIM and it seemed to work fine initially, was able to make/receive a call, but after about 10 minutes I received a text saying that this device is not compatible with our network. I tried putting the SIM back into my old Cricket phone and it still did not work. Logged in to my account online and it showed my line as suspended.

Chatted with a representative and after providing my IMEI, they told me that the device was not whitelisted on the cricket network yet and they could not tell me if or when it would be. They unsuspended my line but said that it would just get suspended again if I tried to use the Oneplus phone again.

I believe this was Cricket’s former policy, but now it it appears that Cricket is not allowing non-Cricket-branded phones unless they are on the list of phones that support HD voice.

Hi @tpatru & thank you for posting on the Community Forum! As of January 19, 2021, Cricket is no longer activate devices that customers bring to Cricket if the device is not HD Voice-capable or an LTE-capable data-only device compatible with the Cricket network. Some devices may be able to get 4G LTE data, but not be compatible for HD Voice with our network. You can check the compatibility tool below to ensure that the device is HD Voice compatible.

Cricket uses the AT&T network, and the OnePlus 8 supports HD voice on AT&T based on this list. Seems quite arbitrary of Cricket to not allow activation of a phone which is obviously supported by the network.

Cricket doesn’t even support Google phones?
