unihertz jelly pro not listed as compatible with 5G--will be changing service if cricket doesn't quit the cash grab

Keep getting texts/interrupted calls that my phone doesn’t support 5G/4G LTE.  It clearly does (as multiple other services have confirmed).  Since Cricket’s whitelist is nothing more than a cash-grab attempt to force customers to buy phones they don’t need, will be switching services unless tech support actually starts acting like tech support and adding ALL phones that qualify to their whitelist rather than lying about a phone’s capabilities.

@kenner

We truly hate to hear you feel you have to switch! We would hate to see you go! To benefit our entire customer base we’re introducing a network that performs at a higher standard, offering better speed and higher-quality audio, including High-Definition (HD) Voice. This isn’t something you’ll want to miss out on. However, you will have to upgrade in order to enjoy it. You may be eligible for special offers if you choose to upgrade your phone. You can visit a Cricket retail location or contact customer service online or by phone to learn more about available offers.

No, I don’t *have* to upgrade to enjoy it.  My phone is perfectly capable of supporting everything coming online.  The issue is that Cricket tech support is deliberately dragging their heels updating their whitelist in an attempt to force customers into completely unnecessary ‘upgrades’ as a cash grab.

To be very clear--this is not a negotiation.  Either Cricket updates their whitelist for a device that is known to support all of what is required, or they lose a customer.  Period.  And considering how many others have left Cricket over the same garbage (and I’ve been spreading the word about Cricket’s cash grab among my contacts as well), you can expect to lose more in the very near future.

Me too!!  I have factory unlocked models of phones that Cricket claims will work fine but imei for my phones claim incompatibility when I look them up.  The difference is ATT model vs unlocked model of same phone.  If you carefully compare the specs side by side, both do the "HD Voice" and unlocked gives additional 4g bands.

In LTE, HD voice is actually built into the VoLTE standard, because VoLTE uses AMR-WB. As long as the device supports AMR-WB, then HD voice is possible.

I'm switching to Mint Mobile in December before the 3g elimination.  Cricket has been just fine for several years for us, but I'm just not having any of this BS - just to see if my phones will still work with Cricket.  Curious how long this post will stay up.

As i understand it - the official ATT/Cricket excuse to not allow certain phones, is not being able to do 911 calls without HD Voice!!  If your phone does AMR-WB then any real incompatibility is by design!

Yep--have also left for Mint Mobile where all of those features that Cricket claims are supported mysteriously are without me having to buy a new (Cricket/ATT-specific, of course) phone.  I’ve been a loyal customer for years and would have been willing to stick with them if they hadn’t been so slimy and cash-grabby, but so it goes.
