I was looking over plans and to me it appears (i could be wrong.) That joining 2 phone lines into one plan is the same as just having individual lines. Does anyone have 2 lines one one account that had been on individual lines? Does it save anything?

There are discounts associated with having multiple lines with the same rate plan. For example, if you have the standard unlimited plan, it is $55 /mo for a single line. If you have the same unlimited plan with 2 lines on the same account, it is $80/mo for both, so about $40 /mo per line. You can check out the pricing depending on how many lines on their website.
