Buying a new Samsung Galaxy S10+ from Fingerhut

I’m thinking of buying a new Galaxy S10+ from Fingerhut. It is unlocked and a GSM phone. It says it can be used on AT@T and other gsm carriers. Will this work with cricket? I’ve been a customer of 5 years and currently have an IPhone 6s Plus that I want to pass along to my daughter who is on my account. I don’t want to buy a $1,019 phone if it’s not going to work with Cricket. I’m very happy with my service and I am worried that I will have trouble with the new phone. Also, will I still be able to keep my phone unlocked or will you lock it when I bring it in? I will be keeping my number. Anyway, thank you in advance for your help.

I'll let Cricket answer for themselves but from what I gather you should be able to use that phone with Cricket except for getting wifi calling.  Only phones purchased from Cricket directly get wifi calling.  At least that's my understanding and I'm not sure if you get VoLTE/HD voice either if you don't purchase directly from Cricket. But let them say for sure. I also think Cricket only locks their phones for 6 months and not phones purchased elsewhere. Correct me if I'm wrong......

@Texasgrrl Hi there, when purchasing an unlocked phone some of the features on the device may not be compatible but the service will work. If you would like to use Wi-Fi calling and mobile hotspot the device will not be compatible with these features.

So when you say some of the features may not be compatible you don’t mean things like texting and sending photos through texting etc? As long as I can text and make calls I’m happy. Oh and using the Internet of course. I don’t care about mobile hotspot and WiFi calling. Since I’ve been a customer for years will my phone be locked?

The phone wont be locked if you bring an unlocked device to Cricket. All of the features that you are looking for will work for devices bought outside of Cricket and brought over.

The website says that the phone is an unlocked phone but does not say if it's an international phone or an American phone? If it's an international phone will it still work with Cricket? This is what it says on the description of the phone.

Unlocked cell phones are compatible with GSM networks like AT&T and T-Mobile in the U.S. or any GSM network around the world. Phone will not work with Sprint, Verizon, Boost Mobile, Virgin Wireless or any other CDMA network.
If you are purchasing this device for use on a GSM network like T-Mobile or AT&T, please contact your carrier prior to purchasing to confirm your carrier will support voice and data on this unlocked GSM device.

Cricket has a GSM network and currently carriers other models of the S10. The unlocked S10+ will work for the needs that your previously listed.

@Texasgrrl The device will work on our network. We will just have to update the APN settings when you activate the device on your line.

@Texasgrrl

The device will work just make sure to update the APN settings. If it isn't changed the data will not work until it is updated. Cricket has the information on their website. I've had to use it before and it is so simple to change. Here is the link I used on their website:

Thank you!
I went to my Cricket store and they told me that I had to bring the phone in. I asked if I could just put the SIM card in and the employee said no that I’d have to come in? I don’t mind going in but I’d rather do it myself.

Even they told me the same i have to bring the device to them and the y will install the SIM card by themselves even though i said that i want to install it by myself.
