I just installed the Oreo update on my Cricket-branded Galaxy S7 yesterday; it has a security patch date of April 1, 2018. My question is, does this update resolve the reports from earlier this month that the GS7 is vulnerable to the Meltdown vulnerability? I'm concerned about this issue, but none of the reports I've read across multiple sources even clarify whether this involves GS7's with Qualcomm chips, Samsung Exynos chips, or both. (All GS7's legitimately sold in the U.S., including the official Cricket model, should have Qualcomm chips.) I've heard that recent security updates may have blocked some variants of Meltdown and/or Spectre, but apparently not the one first reported in August.
