I have a Cricket Samsung A51 5G which I used for over a year that I’m trying to network unlock as I have upgraded and trying to sell my old phone. I tried to unlock it using the website but it tells me that I have to use the cricket app to unlock it. The problem is there is no “unlock” button on my cricket app login screen, I tried reaching costumer service but they had no answer other than uninstall, install the app again, clear cache and data and using data instead of wifi. None of that worked. When I open the my cricket app an error message that says “network unlock keeps stopping” pops up from time to time. Cricket support said once I insert a sim from a different carrier it should unlock but when I do it gives me a prompt asking if I want to unlock, when I press yes it just opens the my cricket app but nothing happens. Has anyone had this issue and how do you fix it?

🤔You’ll need to access the app from the device you want to unlock, make sure you connect to wifi, and you should have the option via the login screen.

It doesn't work. The device unlock option is simply not shown. I have 2 other cricket phones and I can see the device unlock option in the login screen of those phones but not in the A51 which is the one I'm trying to unlock.

Sometime it could be your software version, but that device may not be eligible if you’re not seeing the option only on that phone.

It may already be unlocked.

This is what it was. I was able to download a software update to android 12 and after that I was able to unlock it via the app. Not sure if there was something wrong with my installation of Android that got fixed with the update or what was the deal but I got it done. Cricket should be able to unlock the phone remotely and not have to do it through a buggy app.

This was on their web site for future bloggers looking at this post:

Follow these steps to get your phone unlock code. - Log in to My Account. - Click Account Settings. - Scroll down to Unlock Phone and click Get Code. - If you're eligible, click Request Unlock, click Copy and then you're good to go!

Of course, you have to insert another company’s SIM card to get it to prompt you to enter the code. This worked for me. My son’s phone was able to do it through the app. Also you have to have paid into cricket at least 6 months before they will let you unlock it.
