My mother recently acquired a new phone, yet she is grappling with certain perplexing issues. Upon receiving a call, the phone produces two simultaneous ringtones, with one persisting endlessly even after the call is answered, while the other ceases upon answering. Furthermore, when receiving calls through messenger, the phone audibly rings, but fails to display any corresponding notifications on the screen. I am sincerely at a loss and would immensely value any guidance you can offer. Despite exhaustively navigating through the settings, I have been unable to pinpoint a solution. Thank you for your assistance in advance.

Hi @LillianFelly, we are sorry to hear this. In this scenario, we suggest resetting your app’s preferences directly from your phone’s settings or factory resetting the phone. If you are still experiencing the same issue, we highly recommend private messaging @CricketSupport for further assistance.

Here are a few things you can try:

  • Restart the phone. This is a simple solution, but it can often fix minor issues.
  • Check the phone's settings. Make sure that the ringtone settings are correct and that notifications are enabled for messenger.
  • Update the phone's software. Sometimes, software updates can fix bugs that are causing problems with the phone.
  • Try a different ringtone. It's possible that the ringtone that you're using is causing the problem. Try using a different ringtone to see if that fixes the issue.
  • Try a different messenger app. It's also possible that the messenger app that you're using is causing the problem. Try using a different messenger app to see if that fixes the issue.

If you've tried all of these things and the problem is still happening, then you may need to contact the phone manufacturer for support.

Here are some specific things to look for in the phone's settings:

  • Ringtone settings: Make sure that the ringtone settings are correct for both incoming calls and messenger calls. You may also want to check the volume settings to make sure that the ringtone is loud enough to hear.
  • Notification settings: Make sure that notifications are enabled for messenger. You may also want to check the notification settings to make sure that the notifications are displayed on the screen.
  • Software updates: Check to see if there is a software update available for the phone. If there is, install the update and see if that fixes the problem.

If you're still having trouble, please let me know and I'll try to help you further.

Thank you for the detailed reply. I have already tried all of the things that you suggested, but the problem is still happening. I will contact the phone manufacturer for support.

In the meantime, is there any way to temporarily disable the messenger app so that I don't receive any more notifications? I still need to be able to use the phone for other purposes, but I don't need to receive notifications from the messenger app.

Yes, there are a few ways to temporarily disable the messenger app so that you don't receive any more notifications.

One way to do this is to go to the phone's settings and disable notifications for the messenger app. To do this, go to Settings > Apps > Messenger > Notifications and toggle off all of the notification options.

Another way to disable the messenger app is to force stop the app. To do this, go to Settings > Apps > Messenger and tap Force stop. This will stop the app from running and you will no longer receive notifications from the app.

Finally, you can also uninstall the messenger app temporarily. To do this, go to Settings > Apps > Messenger and tap Uninstall. This will uninstall the app from your phone and you will no longer receive notifications from the app.

Once you have disabled or uninstalled the messenger app, you will no longer receive any notifications from the app. However, you will still be able to use the phone for other purposes.

To re-enable the messenger app, you can simply go to the Google Play Store and install the app again. Once the app is installed, you will be able to receive notifications from the app again.

I hope this helps!
