I got a notice to update my phone and that I needed to be connected to wifi to do so. I agreed and my samsung A32 started to update and when completed my phone starts to turn on until the cricket “something to smile about” logo comes up and then shuts off, then repeats over and over. What can I do? Ive tried to hold the on/off button and that changes nothing. When I hold down both volume up and volume down with the start button some warning message comes up stating a custom OS can cause critical problems in phone and installed applications - if you want to download a custom OS, press the volume up key, otherwise press the volume down key to cancel...please help what should I do?

I am having this same issue!  Except i didn’t agree to the update at first and tried to get it to wait until I was on my home wifi.  It did it anyway and has been doing the same all night.  And now it doesn’t even get as far as the samsung screen.  It also doesn’t stay off, just restarts with a dull flash like it is trying to restart.

Hi @gamezt2 and @andreaj87 and welcome to the Community Forum. We recommend performing a hard reset on your device. With your device powered off, press and hold the volume up and side buttons simultaneously until the Android Recovery screen appears. Next, press the volume down button until wipe data/factory reset is highlighted, then press the Side button. Please note, this action will restore your device to factory settings. Feel free to send us a PM to @CricketSupport if you need additional assistance. We’re here to help!

Hi @Marlena_Cricket

As I mentioned in my reply, my phone doesn’t turn all the way off, so I can’t perform the reset you suggested.  My solution is now to go to a new phone and a different carrier as no-on at Cricket (online or in the store) could help and kept sending me to someone else/giving me the run around.  Thanks for trying though!

I have the same issue! My phone updated and was super sluggish. Then it restarted and never gets past the Samsung screen. I created a ticket with Samsung and had a service call on it and they said the OS update failed and the phone needs to have the OS re-installed from a computer. The cost was more than I expected and now I’ve had multiple back-and-forths with Samsung about it. This sucks that the A32 version that Cricket sold couldn’t take the OS update and now we’re left with broken phones!
