Is there a way to fix the issue with the S22 hotspot. It is not working. I know it's not on the listed devices for hot spot. Is cricket going to add? I've called customer service and they told me the phone should work woth hotspot based on the iemi.

@Miggymoe thanks for reaching out on our Cricket Community Forum. Can you provide us with the model number of your device? We’d be happy to look further into this for you 😀

Hey @Miggymoe, if your model number is SM-S901U1, then your device is eligible for hotspot on Cricket. It’s on the list. https://www.cricketwireless.com/support/great-big-network/byod-compatibility.html

When are you adding the SM-S908U1, I was told by customer service 3 months ago it was going to be added soon, still waiting.

hello i have the same problem with a s22 plus S906U1, i called and they told me that it is not compatible with hotspot, i don't understand, since it is an unlocked version and it is for the United States

Badge

Oh believe me they are compatible, it's just a way of Cricket to punish customers that buy unlocked phones, mine it's unlocked as well.

@Miggymoe Cricket had to send me a new SIM card for some reason and now it’s working perfectly.  They will walk you through a few tests and if they can’t get it to work, they should offer you a new SIM for free.  They did for me!

I just call cricket to help fix the problem with my Samsung hotspot and not only did they argue that it wasn't eligible they also hung up on me😡

@Sassyrose88, that can be so frustrating!  Call back and immediately get the name of the person helping you.  Then ask them again to assist you with your new Samsung that you can’t get the hotspot to work on.  Let them know that you’ve confirmed that it should work.  If they argue with you, insist on speaking to their supervisor.  Don’t be nasty, but be firm if they hesitate to get you to a supervisor or manager.  Unfortunately, some of these support people haven’t been given as much training as they need or been kept up to date.  Technology changes so fast.

I called Cricket support today and the answer provided was that Samsung does not support Cricket’s configuration for mobile hotspot. This does not make sense and is also very disappointing. The choice is now either to switch from Cricket or buy another phone 😓

I have the same issue and the first time the person said they could fix it no problem, but I lost him. Today they said because It was BYOD they won’t help me. Nothing. Rude and not willing to help. I have had cricket for 2 years and they don’t want to even try to help bc I bought a phone that was supposed to be compatable.

I have the same problem with my Samsung S22 SM-901U1, unlocked and purchased outright from Best Buy. Cricket Support only says that your device is compatible but we don’t guarantee service and that i need to purchase a phone from Cricket if I want to have hotspot.

Switching my sim to a Cricket Alcaltel Lumos, my account recognizes the new device and adds the hotspot feature (shows in MyCricket). If I switch the sim back to my S22, the hotspot feature disappears after 5 minutes and I can no longer enable hotspot.

I have tried changing the apn to various different variations as well. Hotspot worked fine on my previous S21 using the same sim.

An update to my post above. I worked with Cricket Support here on the Cricket  community and they referred the matter to IT support. They got back to me and said "the support team has concluded that Mobile Hotspot cannot be added to your device at this time."

Conclusion is that a factory unlocked S22 SM-S901U will not get hotspot with Cricket.

FIXED! (S21)

I have been running the best little app ever, NOROOTfirewall. After going thru support with the same results as above, I noticed that if this app is turned on, no hotspot. Turn off firewall, hotspot is fine. I hope this helps some of you.
