Where are the Cricket Visual Voicemail files stored on Android?

Hello,

I am having trouble finding the location to which Visual Voicemail exports files. Checked Music, Downloads, other usual suspects to no avail. Tried searching for *.amr files - no luck.

Steps:

  • Open Cricket Visual Voicemail app (log in)
  • Select voicemail message of interest
  • Tap the 3 dots in the upper right-hand corner → Export to file
  • A message pops up
    • The message has been exported to: /files/voicemail-<date-time>.amr

However, there’s no /files folder in the root of the phone storage or SD card. Searching for it does not provide results either.

 

App version: 3.3.0.101215

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S8 (SM-G950U)

Thank you for your prompt response. I contacted Cricket Support via Facebook messenger as you suggested. They told me that a ticket was opened with IT on this and someone would get back to me in 2 to 3 business days. It’s been close to 3 weeks and I am still waiting.

For the benefit of the others.

 

After almost a month of back-n-forth with Cricket support via m.me/cricketwireless they offered a workaround. Apparently, this functionality is broken on Android due to Google’s recent privacy/security changes.

The workaround is to “share” the VM file of interest with yourself using available options (email, messages, cloud storage). Not the best solution if you need to process a number of messages, but tested and works.

Here’s how to export and access saved voicemails in the Cricket Visual Voicemail app.

 

  1. Open the voicemail you want to export and tap the 3 vertical dots at the top right of the screen

     

  2. Tap “Export to file”
  3. Plug your phone into your computer
  4. Unlock your phone and swipe down from the top of your screen
  5. Tap the menu item that says something like “Android System -Charging this device via USB”

     

  6. Tap it a second time

     

  7. Set the “Use USB for” option to something like “File Transfer”
  8. From your computer, open Windows Explorer and click on “This PC” then double-click your Phone’s name

     

  9. Double click “internal storage”
  10. Click inside the box containing the file path, and add
    \Android\data\com.mizmowireless.vvm\files
    to the end of the existing text

For those of you who are already technically inclined, the file path that the Cricket Wireless Visual Voicemail app saves to when you tap “Export to file” can be accessed by a computer at this address: [Your Phone]\Internal shared storage\Android\data\com.mizmowireless.vvm\files

Hi, Where are voicemails stored on Android is by using the off-site server? The voice message simply downloaded into the device. For further saving, you only have to access the storage of the media's application. Depending on the phone's setting, it can be in the internal storage or the SD card storage
