Dear Dante - The Debut Column

Dear Dante, I’m back in college, my grades are good, and my favorite holidays are around the corner. I should be happy but I’m not; I’m miserable! Thinking about spending time this fall with family and friends just makes me miss my Juliet. Dante, I now know that Juliet is my true love. Sadly, when she was mine I took her for granted, deserting her on Saturday nights and ignoring her lonely texts. Finally, she kicked me to the curb saying, “Hasta la vista, baby.” In my mind’s eye, I can still see her ponytail bouncing behind her as she walked out of my life. Now she’s studying in Italy and I’m stuck here in the States. I’ve texted her my irresistible love poems. I’ve tried calling to plead with her to take me back. Small Business Gets Big Boost from Simply Data & Cricket Turbo Hotspot

Dear Dante, You know that image of a wacky, wild-haired mad scientist? That’s pretty much my dad but he’s also a master baker whose experiments happen in the kitchen. His latest invention has real business potential.  It’s called a “Kombucha Cake” and it’s a great tasting ball of energy that powers athletes through to the finish line. Family Tech Support Needs Backup

Dear Dante, I love my family, for real I do. But I’m fed up with being their tech support! If I had a nickel for every time I helped my dad with Bluetooth pairing or got my brother out of a jam when he forgot his phone unlock password, I’d have enough to buy an iPhone XS with the cash in my pocket. Of course, I don’t charge them for my time (or my hair extensions that cover up what I pull out when they get really silly - like the time my dad paired his phone with my grandma’s Bluetooth speaker. Every time he got a call, my Grandma would yell from the porch, “Turn off your phone. I’m listening to Aretha!”). Dante, how can I help my family help themselves with simple tech stuff? I’ve got to hit the books hard (I’m studying Astrophysics) and I’m so distracted. My family needs my help and their problems are important but it’s not like it’s rocket science. What should I do? Binge Watcher Seeks Healthier Habits

Dear Dante, I’ve got one doozy of a problem that’s really cramping my style. Here’s my deal. I’m on a budget with a capital B. See, I’m a news junkie and I’ve got it bad. The kind of bad that kicks ya right in the pocketbook. I keep using more data than what’s included in my 5 GB plan. I’ve been purchasing Add 1GB when I need to, but that’s getting expensive. I don’t want to upgrade my plan and I want to always have high-speed data. I think I need to set limits, keep myself in check, ya know? Like how everybody’s monitoring their steps these days - I need the same thing for my plan so I’ll always have enough data for when really big news breaks. Dear Dante - International Relations Get Personal

Dear Dante, My mom is turning 60. What a milestone! I want to show her how much I love and miss her on her big birthday and that’s my problem. What can I get a woman who says she doesn’t want anything except to know that her children are happy, healthy and living a good life? I can’t take my kids to visit her, bake her a cake or cook her a special meal because she’s in Mexico and we live in Chicago. Dante, help! How can I show my mom that, even though I can’t be with her, she’s always in my heart?
