Lost Phone / Recover Text Messages

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place to ask but here goes. Back in the day, service providers could actually recover/download all the text messages you sent or received. Is this something that can still be done? Wife's phone was stolen, it's not turned on (likely won't be, at least not where I can access it), and besides photos of her recently passed cousin, she is heartbroken over losing the many texts that she sent and received with him during his final months.
Does Cricket keep texts stored on servers? And if so, is it a situation where we could get them?
Thank you in advance!

@brian314g It all depends on your wife's device. If she has an Apple device they back up the information via iCloud and if it was an Android it maybe backed up to her gmail account. If she never backed up the information in one of those two servers then she may have lost the information. We unfortunately we do not store customers texts, or contacts in our systems.

Really? Man, I could have sworn telecoms were required to store them on their servers for a certain period of time.
Unfortunately, the Google backup features are hit and miss. Some things back up, others not so much.

@brian314g Unfortunately we don't store them. Hopefully Google captured the information for you.
