Travel to Europe

Badge

Hello, when in Europe this summer I would like to use my iPhone 11 on WiFi only. I have the 5GB/$30 plan. Two questions:

How do I ensure that the phone will never connect to a European cell tower, but will only use wifi? Can I have Cricket block all international roaming?

Cricket website says “The use of Wi-Fi Calling may be restricted in some countries” but I can’t find a list. Will wifi calling work in EU countries?

Hi There, we thank you for reaching out to Cricket! Cricket currently do not offer cellular service outside United States, Canada and Mexico so your Cricket service would not work in Europe. This means it would not be able to connect to cellular towers in Europe and be charge roaming fees. Wi-Fi calling will work while in Europe as along as you are connected to Wi-Fi service. Safe travels😊

Hi Cricket! Are there any plans to expand offering phone services to other parts of the world except Mexico and Canada.  This would be just awesome!!

Hello @ds329a ...By Wi-Fi calling, does this mean @CaptainCornetto will be able to call and send texts to USA phone numbers while in Europe? (not using WhatsApp or skype).

I’m stuck with the same question. I’ll be in Denmark in a few weeks.

I own unlocked iPhone12 with Cricket.

I will travel to Europe in 2 weeks.

I want to talk/text/data between my phone and U.S. numbers over European cellular (NOT WIFI) network.

In the past, once landed in EU, I purchased a 10GB SIM card at vending machine in baggage claim.  This enabled my phone with EU number and allowed me to talk/txt/data to EUROPEAN NUMBERS ONLY.  I could not talk/txt between my phone and any U.S. based number.  This means I could not even check my Cricket voicemail for a week :(.

I enabled WIFI CALLING on my iPhone.  This did not work.

Does anyone know if/how to solve this problem thank you.

I have the same problem and no one helped me yet

Indeed.  Since cell phones and plans have only been around for 2 - -3 years, I guess it’s too much to expect simple answers to simple problems.  I called @Cricket and the representative had nothing at all to offer on the subject.  Good times!

Don't worry. Just disconnect your connection, and better pull out the SIM card. There is Wi-Fi everywhere, so you should not worry about Internet access. Better learn about the culture and customs so as not to find yourself in an awkward situation. Sometimes, even the sign language is radically different. Prepare yourself in terms of currency. It is better to exchange money in advance in your country, and it is both easier and cheaper. If you use a cashless payment, get a currency card in advance, it will be very expensive to pay with a ruble card. Always have cash with you. Even if you know English and are going, for example, to Germany, learn a dozen of the most necessary words and phrases: greetings, thanks. To be on the train, https://www.dbauskunft.com/de/ understand what you are being told.

Many people are unsure where to go and how to avoid making a mistake. I, for example, took a long time to decide and eventually found information about one of the best resorts here https://tripbirdie.com/puerto-rico-all-inclusive-family-resorts/ . I, for one, am quite satisfied with this information, and there are no longer any problems. I hope I may be of assistance to you as well.

Of course, before the trip you need to prepare so that everything goes perfectly. I don't really use the internet when I travel. My next trip is planned to Spain and my friends have already booked business class flights to Valencia. We have so many plans so I think I won`t use my phone several days!

please note that you may incur additional charges for using your phone while overseas.

Yes, but you can always buy a local SIM card when you travel. Or unlimited Internet plan. When I traveled on the Jeep tour in Skye that is in Scotland, I used messengers and video calls. Because we would escape to lonely beaches and spend evenings under the stars. What mobile phones? Actually, I didn't want to use them at all.

It's great that you're planning your European trip. To ensure that your iPhone 11 only uses WiFi, turn off the "Data Roaming" option in your phone's settings. This will prevent your phone from connecting to any cellular network while you're abroad. You can also contact Cricket customer service to request that they block all international roaming on your account.

And, the next time, I suggest you choose this hotel (www.junglevistahotel.com) for the trip; they have great connection. Good luck!
