Correct me if I’m wrong: iPhones chargers are set at 5V and a variable amps which finally determine the power of the charger (V x amps)

So I thought why can’t iPhone choose how much amps take? Certain boards can actually take more or less power based on their necessity. Is it because on the iPhone we are charging a battery and not a board?

This way there wouldn’t be the need of so many chargers for different charging speed.

I don’t know the exact reason, but if I had to guess I would think Apple set it this way to protect damage to the battery and using non certified charges, perhaps. So it would only take more power if it is using a certified fast charger, etc.
